Free at last

Well actually… not quite so. I’ve been to the doctor yesterday to get checked on my knee and the good news is: I no longer have to wear this knee brace 24/7. I’m so relieved to finally let go of what would have turned my leg into a robotic prosthetic dead-weight . So yeah, I’m free at last. Now I have a creepily skinny right leg, which I will need to train hard to get back to its full motion again. And the doctor told me I’d need at least 10 more physical therapy sessions.

So I might be free, but the road to full recovery is still long. I felt like I was back at square one. And now for the best part: about a week ago, I experienced the same kind of sudden pain in my leg, my knee got locked in for a split second, before I unlocked it with a sonorous CLAC. This was all too familiar…. but this time on my OTHER leg. So right now, I’m pretty sure my OTHER meniscus is torn too, and while this doesn’t cause any problem with my left leg, which is perfectly functional, I’m afraid that this could happen again anytime. I have an appointment in one week to do an MRI, and we’ll take it from there.

I sure don’t need to mention I am NOT looking forward to a possible operation on the left knee as soon as the right knee is healed. Anyway I try not to think so much about this, and I focus on getting better on the right knee. I exercise, and I am now looking forward to every single physical therapy session. I even dreamt last night that I was at the gym, pedaling like a maniac on the stationary bike to the rhythm of some demoniac heavy metal tune. Bottomline: I’m MOTIVATED.

I quit smoking a couple of days ago. Today is the day I’m back on my fitness journey.
